CONAN NEWS: Some interesting new details about the "Conan: Queen of the Black Coast" animated series have emerged:

 

1. Although the series has only just been announced publicly, the writing and overall planning are already well underway. And while the final green light was given only recently, development actually began more than a year ago.

 

2. "Conan: Queen of the Black Coast" will adapt Robert E. Howard's classic story, but it will also explore the two years Conan and Bêlit spent sailing and raiding together, expanding on the original tale much like the classic Marvel and Dark Horse comics did.

 

3. Future seasons are planned to adapt additional Robert E. Howard Conan stories. Shorter tales are expected to receive shorter adaptations, with some stories spanning only one to three episodes.

 

4. Fans can expect a faithful Conan experience: blood, guts, brutality, and nudity are all on the table.

 

5. The animated series will not interfere with the long-rumored "King Conan" film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. But despite the widespread impression that the project is already moving forward, it has not yet been officially greenlit. Disney and 20th Century Studios have still not approved funding for the film.

 

6. There is hope that a successful animated series could finally convince Disney and 20th Century Studios to move ahead with the funding.

 

These details come directly from Heroic Signatures director Fredrik Malmberg, the current Conan rights holder, who shared this information with the YouTube channel Midnight's Edge.
